Diabetes and its homeopathic management & Cure: By Dr.Subir Basu

Abstract: Diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which our body’s use of food for production of energy is affected. Most of the food we eat is carbohydrates, and this is broken down by the digestive juices into a simple sugar called glucose. Glucose is the main source of energy for the body. After digestion, the glucose passes into our bloodstream where it is available for body cells to use for growth and energy. Insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, facilitates the entry of glucose into our cells. When we eat, the pancreas is supposed to produce the right amount of insulin to move the glucose from our blood into our cells. In diabetics, the pancreas either produces little or no insulin, or the body cells do not respond to the insulin that is produced. Due to this, glucose levels rise in the blood, floods into the urine and passes out of the body, making the body lose its main source of fuel.

Introduction: Success of homeopathic treatment, laid down in the philosophy of Hahnemann’s writings, we have to interpret the principle to treat a patient, and I have seen all the principle are clear, practical and satisfying. In Homeopathy we treat a man not his disease by name, Ref. Aph. 81, F/N how nicely Hahnemann described and cleared the ideas about the name of disease.

Therefore we as a homeopath should have no special treatment for diabetes; the diabetes patient is treated just as every other patient is treated. Homeopathy can treat any curable case of diabetes; where as in other paths, diabetes is considered as incurable. Advanced cases treatment is difficult to be cured but the patient altogether may live as long as other people and die of something else.

Unless you treat a patient and his type of diabetes, relating to individual's active miasm, you rare cure an individual.

A patient who is coming from allopathic treatment withdraw his medicine gradually.Even patient with high sugar under proper homoeopathic treatment never show any bad effect generally we see

by conventional mode of treatment.

We should remember that cure of a patient depends on three things, proper Nutrition and diet, good lifestyle and, proper scientific medicinal system.

The first two criteria depends on a patient, and last one the vital one for which a patient comes to a physician to purchase his health should be a proper scientific medicine system.

A physician can’t experiment with his patient, Last 250 years the principle and philosophy laid by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the homeopathic method of treatment is sufficient which follow the nature's law of therapeutics is more scientific than any other mode of treatment, and it is the duty of a Homeopath to follow that in a proper scientific way.

General Knowledge about Diabetes: There are three types of diabetes.

Type I - occurs when the pancreas produces very little or no insulin at all. Approximately 10 percent of people with diabetes, mostly children and young adults, have Type I diabetes. (Destruction)

Type II - occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot use the insulin produced effectively. 90 percent of people with diabetes have Type II. (In coordination)

Gestational –Both are functional changes and gestational diabetes is a temporary condition that occurs during pregnancy. It affects 2 to 4 percent of all pregnancies with an increased risk of developing diabetes for both mother and child. (functional changes)

Diabetes incipidias:It is a disease characterized by formation by excessive amount of very dilute urine ,excessive thirst due to renal conservation of water or as a result of defiency of or resistance to ADH. (Functional changes)

The pathogenesis of Diabetes.

1. The process may lead to breakdown of protein and depot fat in an excessive quantities there by resulting in accumulation of acetyl co an intermediate product of protein and fat metabolism in the circulation.

2. Normally these intermediate product enters in to citric acid cycle inside the liver for its complete combustion and production of CO2 and H2O.

Pathogenesis:

All these condition is further accentuated by the accumulation of lactic acid and pyruvic acid , the intermediate metabolites of carbohydrate metabolism, the accumulation of ketone bodies and a accompanying fall of blood Ph results in the development of diabetic ketoacidosis, which present as acute emergency.

Pathogenesis of Type I DM.

1. Genetic HLA- DR3 /DR4 + Syphilitic Miasm.

2. Envronment + viral infection gives -> Autoimune insulates( cytomegalo virus. Adenovirus)-> which causes B cell destruction -> implies severe insulin deficiency-> Type 1 DM , IDDM.

Pathogenesis Type II DM.

Tubercular State:

It is constitute with combination of two miasms, and the classifications are pseudo Psora….that is the combination of Psora and syphilis,

And another is syco Psora, and naturally the combination between Psora and Sycosis.

When tubercular state added to B cell defect genetic causes abnormal secretion of insulin from the B cell.

Environmental factor /obesity when the tubercular state is added a relative Insulin defiency is found .

B cell exhaustion is found -> Type II DM -> NIDDM.

Clinical feature:

1. Polyuria-nocturia

2. Polydipsia- profuse thirst

3. Polyphagia- Increase food intake.

4. Rapid imaciation

5. Dry ness of mouth and throat.

6. Constipation

7. Intense Itching.

8. Sign remain absent except emaciation in IDDM.

9. Other sign depends on complication.

The extent and severity of symptoms depends on the dominant miasmatic background which will help us to gain the knowledge of disease in particular in an individual case.

Misconception of homoeopathic treatment of Diabetes and the main hindrances to cure : .

Conventional medicine often uses insulin itself in the treatment of diabetes. This being just a replacement therapy, diabetes becomes a life-long disease. Homoeopathy can be used effectively in the treatment of diabetic patient. But how??

The problem is mainly because of ignorance to the application of homoeopathic system, most of the Homoeopathic physicians are in confusion and have thus a misconception according to allopathic system of medicine that we can control the diabetic condition, when a patient comes to a homeopath already in diabetic condition comes with other chronic disease condition is to be treated, takes the oral insulin pills previously. The general mistakes carried out by different homoeopathic physicians to continue the oral insulin pills or use of different therapeutics of homoeopathic medicines, and mother tincture with the chronic homoeopathic treatment.

I have seen, because of misconceptions homoeopaths are not confident, and some of them also have less believed in their system.

Physicians may have a good knowledge about the disease condition from text book , but could not connect the above said disease condition to homeopathic philosophy.

Use of some regular preferred Mother Tinture (M.T) on the name of homeopathic medicine direct the case to more incurable condition and hazards to health , because (M.T) is never a Homeopathic medicine, it is one of the Vital obstruction to cure an individual.

The attitude of some physicians is also, like a safe mode, to a patient who takes the allopathic medicine, already for diabetes and allow to continue the allopathic medicine with homoeopathic medicine for treatment of other disease condition in a same individual . The similar attitude I found in case of thyroid, hypertension also.

Some greedy and mongrel homoeopathic physician Without knowing the power of dynamic homoeopathic medicine often do the above mistakes and can never achieve the cure.

Diabetes is a long term disease condition mostly arises from a series of suppressions by the crude medicines or inappropriate homoeopathic treatment. Homeopaths resorts to different approaches towards Diabetes. When the blood sugar level is very high, the priority is to control it, with the allopathic medicine and gradual withdrawing the allopathic medicine will solve the purpose.

With a continuous experimentation with the patients I found the following observations are very much useful to achieve cure for an individual suffering by diabetic condition.

1. Cause of diabetes: It is a chronic disease condition, and follows all the norms of this disease condition. It is prevalent nowadays because as per my observation: 1) Family history (miasmatic cause, genetic transformation), 2)Bad effect of Vaccinations 3) Suppressions with the allopathic medicine and its side effect reaches up to the endocrine level( drug created , a high percentages are affected),4) poor lifestyle(sedentary life, faulty food habit as a maintaining cause )

2. Management of Blood sugar: some homoeopath believe that diabetic condition is to be managed with therapeutics medicine like the allopath and for that they commonly used remedies are Uranium Nitricum, Phosphoric Acid, Syzygium Jambolanum, Cephalandra Indica etc. some use the biochemic medicine like Natrum Phos and some use the patent medicine on the name of homoeopathy. Their act is nothing but a mongrel act where they never think to cure a patient and lastly their all effort go in vein, and thus make a patient in more sick condition.

3. Neutrition: It plays a big roll, and I found ,specially in case of type II, milk , and any diet prepared by milk should be totally stoped. Allow them to take more fruits , vegetables, seeds food with more protein etc. Stop Any refined food, and fast food

4. Life style: Daily morning walk , swimming, exercise, for one hour is must.The patient is to advise to take dinner before two hours of night sleep.

5. Holistic as well as Individualistic approach in medicine through Homeopathy:

This is a unique concept in Homeopathy I generally apply to my patient. Even though it may sound strange, Homeopathy does not treat pathological effect of the disease per se. A Homoeopath treats the patient taking into consideration the mental, emotional and physical peculiarities of the person who is afflicted with pathological state. He considers diseases are a mere deviation in life force and make efforts to correct this aberration. Homeopathy regards health as a state of balancing the equilibrium of the life force and the physicians’ duty is to support the individual to maintain a harmony in health, restore the sick to health through a rational medication. There is a defined philosophical approach in each of the above areas and therefore Homeopathy in true sense is called Holistic system of medicine.

1. What should be the homoeopathic approach: From my experimented based results while treat to a patient who are affected by diabetic condition; I consider the miasmatic approach is the best way to achieve the cure a patient. Therefore by considering the family history, the pathological reports & from the totality we can easily classified the active miasm of a patient who comes with the diabetic conditions. we have to consider the active miasm first, and unless we treat the patient miasmatically we rarely get the result.

2. Classification of Diabetic condition miasmatically: This is one of the important condition where we see the disease condition of the patient in diabetic condition, it is clearly indicated that the diabetic type I is syphilitic miasm as there is clearly the destruction of the beta cell of the pancreas.

The type II, or NIDDM is generally sycotic miasm where we see a type of in coordination, or destruction both are is clearly prominent . The progress of the disease is such here we can relate that with the resultant of sycotic+Psora =(pseudo Psora ) where incordination prominent with eruptions non exudative and in some individual where Psora+ syphilis= (pseudopsora) exudation of other related disease condition plays more prominent and active miasm for diabetes medicine selection, and the gestational diabetes and the diabetes insipidious is a physiological one, just a functional changes and it is clearly coming under active miasm is Psora.

1. In my clinic what I observe that most of the patient now a days, has reached to diabetic condition due to the suppressive treatment by the conventional medicinal effect.

Vaccination is one of the main causes for the type II diabetes. So it is a thinking we should keep in mind while treating a patient.

1. Medicine I use generally: Type one : Merc. sol, kali iod, syph,tuberculinum, carc, lycopodium, Calc carb, calc phos,

Type II : Thuja ,Bascilinum, Tuberculinum, Sepia, sil, Acid nitric, medo, Arg nit, Lyco,Calc carb,phos.

Phosphorus: Considering the thirst and craving for sweets,it is easy to see the Phosphurus predilection for diabetes.

Diabetes insipidious, or in case gestational diabetes: Nux vom, Sulph,

1. Medicine Dose and Potency: medicine always should 50 millisimal potency. 0/1,0/2,0/3,0/4….Once in day in vac ven. The patient comes with high sugar, from allopathic mode of treatment, I stop the medicine gradually and try to stop allopathic medication within 30 to 45 days, and every third month sugar test is done in case of high glucose level.

2. Prognosis of treatment: in case if the diabetes 1 treatment is generally difficult to be cured its percentage is minimum. It is the type of diabetes where there is a total destruction is occurred. And if the patient is younger age some of the patient get cure in case of a long treatment is required.

In case of Diabetes type II where it belongs a large percentage of patient, its prognosis is generally good, and a proper homoeopathic treatment is generally beneficial and here we can achieve a cure. But if the case is goes far and insulin is taken for a long time, it is difficult to be cured.

Conclusion: A homoeopath with proper ideas of disease , never think about the disease, they think about the patient as a whole and because of this I have found it is beneficial for a patient who suffers from any disease condition like diabetes is don’t exceed more if proper homoeopathic treatment is given. Their disease condition is not progressing further but mostly it is getting cure and with the help of homoeopathic treatment they can avoid further side effects caused by the diabetics. Since last 10 years while in a experimented based observations and with the effective treatment I learned that unless we treat the diabetics miasmatically and the selection of active miasm, based on addition of the family history, and the type of the diabetics condition, a patient is suffering from we never be able to cure a patients. Proper nutrition and the lifestyle (exercise) will surely restore his health from a disease condition and that is the cure as it termed.
